GeForce LAN, FUCK YA
This LAN/Roadtrip was one of the best experiences I could have asked for. A road trip consisting of stops at yosemite, paramount great america and san francisco for one of the best LANs you could ever go to. Seriously, I had a blast.
To clarify for any of you lanner peeps, im usin IRL names "Kyle = Notoes, Matt = Vector, Alex = Pacmain etc..."
I'll go through a quick recap.
Thursday night I spent the night at kyles house to get ready to move out at 5:00am the next day. When 5:00am came, we packed our shit up, picked up alex, and headed out to wilsonville to meet everyone else. When everyone else came, we all grabbed some starbucks from the one near by, then we all HEADED OUT ONWARD.
We got to merced at, i'd say, possibly 7:00pm? Not sure at all. That's where we'd be staying for 2 days. We spent the night at matt's parents house, saw some good pics of him when he was young "He had a mullet, haha", and went to bed a few hours later cause we were exhausted. The next day we woke up and drove out to yosemite to go hiking on a 8.2 "we actually hiked an extra 1.1 miles" well, hike. It had its up and downs. I mean the views were spectacular and all, but some of the uphill parts were brutal. At around 5:45pmish, we all attempted to defeat the outgoing traffic but we lost. We were there for another half hour trying to get out but in the end we got out, went back to merced and passed out from exhaustion.
SUNDAY PWND!!!!!!!!!!! We all went to great america, which is an awesome roller coaster based theme park. They had some of the best roller coasters i've ever been on "<3 Top gun and Invertigo". We spent the whole day going on rides and just having fun. Me and a few people found this one raft ride where you go up a vertical hill after a drop INSANELY fun. We kept attempting to do a 180 but it wasnt easy and we couldn't really do it :(. Awesome rides and lots of fun that day. After that we went to san francsisco to our gay hotel. "I say gay for the following reasons:
$20 per day for parking
$10 per day for internet
No hot tub
$139 a night
But split between 6 people, the cost went down to like $23 a night, split for 3 days = $70 total for 3 days, so it wasnt bad at all
Monday we just chilled around san francisco. A few of us decided to check out the wharf area a little, we went to the nearby aquarium and checked out some of the fish life, Me and Kyle setup a 2 person LAN in our hotel room "Yeah shutup i don't care if it sounds sad, it was still fun". And just chillaxed the whole day.
Tuesday FUCK YA GEFORCE LAN!!!!. One of the best LAN's you could ever go to. $25 covered unlimited food and soda, a free copy of Battlefield 2. Carball and BF2 tournament, a raffle with $100,000 in prizes, a shuffleboard contest, and something even more awesome, the official release of the nVidia Geforce 7800gtx. The LAN was fun, BF2 was mostly played but that was alright, a lot of people were playing so we had a bunch of full 64 player servers.
The release party was AWESOME. They showed off what the card can do by using graphical demos, and upcoming game demos "Unreal Tournament 2007 looked FUCKING SWEET". After it was over, we could all go back to see some official demos to play "One of which was Serious sam 2, mmmmmmmmm, was FUN." Then afterwards they had a Raffle, prizes included the following: (Taken from the geforce lan page)
Antec: 10 cases, 10 PSUs, plus 25 more accessories
Coolermaster: 10 cases, 15 fans and other accessories
AMD: 10 64-bit processors (5 FX branded)
Crucial: 10 512 MB DDR2 Ballistix DIMMs
DFI: 20 nF4 LANPARTY mobos
Western Digital: 10 SATA HDs
Hitachi: 10 SATA HDs
Danger Den: 5 6800 Waterblock sets
Razer: 30 mice and 30 ExactMat mousepads
Logitech: 30 518 mice plus some speakers
I won a CPU cooler "Which is currently now being used in my system now :)". I personaly knew 3 people, 3 PEOPLE THAT WON 7800GTX's. Which is awesome in a way, but I wish I had one "Even though I cant use it now :(, silly AGP mobo." But one of those 3 people won the last prize, which was a super combo. A case, a Power supply, a 7800gtx and a motherboard and Athlon fx proc. And that person was a SHE, so SHE cleaned house. Congrats Cindy :).
After the LAN was over, we decided we should just head home immediatly "Which was one of the worst ideas ever". We were dead tired the whole ride back home we had to take breaks now and then, switching off drivers. But in the end we came back in portland at 2:30pm. "We left at 1:30am". And so here I am, typing the short version of what happened. If I did the long version, I'd be typing for more hours then I could think of.
Here's a pic of the d00ds i partied with, i look like a fag :/
